IBS or Fibromyalgia -Why you may want to try Shiatsu if you have these symptoms

“I haven’t felt this good in 10 months” said Sandra, during her 4th treatment.

I have seen a lot of clients recently who have been diagnosed with IBS or Fibromyalgia.
Their symptoms include: Pain all over the body, fatigue/low energy, back pain , IBS,
constipation or diarrhea , sweet craving, heavy periods, bloated abdomen.

How does it work?

The client tells me about  their symptoms and how it is affecting their life.
Following the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) I make an initial diagnosis which is backed up by a tongue and pulse diagnosis.

I investigate where the client is feeling pain. Frequently I encounter massive amounts of tension in their muscles, abdomen, back, legs and arms.

Shiatsu is ideal to treat this kind of tension:
it loosens the muscles, increases mobility, relieves pain, improves breathing and activates specific acupressure points to stimulate digestion, bowel movement and increase energy.

How many treatments do I need?

Usually you’ll feel some improvement  after the first treatment but the symptoms may have been building up for a while. In 3-4 treatments you should be feeling that there is a holistic way to improve  your health.

How can I help myself?

Diet is really important.
Avoid the trendy cold smoothie ( until your digestion is feeling more able to cope with it)
Eat your food warm or cooked and try starting your day with a warm lemon and fresh ginger tea and see if it perks you up.

Relaxation
Find a way to take some time for yourself and really relax.

Will I stay healthy?

Receiving  Shiatsu makes you more aware of what’s going on in your body. You become more tuned in to where the tension is coming from and probably have learnt more strategies to manage it.
However life has a habit of knocking us off balance so that’s a good time for a maintenance Shiatsu
.
